Evening Bell - Sheila Ryan

 

                              Remember, Remember

                              How many a story you've got to tell.

                              Of youth and home and that sweet time,

                              When last I heard their soothing chime.

                              Those lovely days they are past away,

                              And many a heart that then was gay

                              Within the tomb now darkly dwells

                              And no more to hear evning bells.

                              And so it will be when I am gone,

                              That tunefull sound will still ring on

                              While other bards will walk these bells

                              And sing your praise sweet evening bells

 

                              기억하라, 기억하라

                              마지막으로 들었을때

                              내 마음을 위로하던 저 종소리를

                              나의 젊은 시절과 고향의 이야기를

                              그리고 달콤하던 그때의 이야기들을

                              너희는 알고 있을까

                              그 좋은 날들은 지나가 버렸네

                              그때 즐겁던 많은 사람들이

                              이제는 어두운 무덤의 주인이 되고

                              저 저녁 종소리도 듣지 못하네

                              내가 이세상을 떠날때도 그러 하겠지

                              음악이 가득한 저 종소리는 들릴 것이고

                              또 다른시인들이 이 골짜기를 거닐며

                              그대들을 칭송하리라 달콤한 저녁종이여
